KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage and oversee the site-specific Environmental, Health and Safety programs in compliance with federal, state and customer/contractual EHS requirements.
  • Develop and maintain hazard assessments (JHA's/AHA's) and implement hazard controls.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify and control potential hazards in the workplace.
  • Collaborate with project teams to promote a safety-first culture and integrate safety management into operational planning.
  • Investigate workplace accidents, incidents, and near-misses, providing detailed reports that identify root causes and corrective actions.
  • Facilitate EHS training programs for employees and subcontractors.
  • Lead emergency response planning, coordinating evacuation drills, and ensuring the readiness of emergency equipment.
  • Ensure accurate record-keeping of all safety incidents and regulatory compliance documentation.
  • Serve as the point of contact for regulatory bodies and represent the company during safety audits or inspections.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to all personnel, ensuring consistent implementation of safety standards across projects.
  • Work closely with the Operations and Project Management teams to integrate EHS processes into daily operations.
  • Other reasonable directives, responsibilities and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice.
  • Assist the Corporate EHS Manager with workers comp case management.
  • Provide immediate care of workplace injuries and/or illnesses.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of a B.S. or equivalent experience and education, preferably in Occupational Health & Safety or a related field (Required).
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Environmental, Health and Safety management, preferably in the construction, environmental or DOE/DOD/USACE contracting industry (required).
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification (required).
  • Current certification, or the ability to obtain certification in CPR/AED & 1st Aid.
  • CSP (Certified Safety Professional) or equivalent safety certification (preferred).
  • Strong working knowledge of EHS regulations (OSHA, EPA, etc.) (required).
  • Ability to operate/maintain IH monitoring systems/equipment to prevent/mitigate exposure to employees
  • Proficiency in Office Suite (Microsoft 365) and safety management software (required).
  • Must receive a satisfactory pre-hire drug screen and background check.
  • Must possess a valid Driver's License and clean driving record.
  • Must be able to meet the physical requirements.
  • Competent and/or qualified personnel as required in applicable sections of 10 CFR 851, Exhibit F Section F4, and other regulations (e.g., excavations, fall protection, respiratory protection program administrator, NPDES Outfall Permit, cranes, and material handling equipment).

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Medium physical workload. Office environment approximately 20% and 80% field/project site work required where there is potential for exposure to hazardous materials, radiation, noise, dust, chemical and physical hazards, and temperature extremes.
  • Employee must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up-to 20 pounds of force frequently and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
  • Required to have close visual acuity to perform activities such as viewing a computer terminal and extensive reading. Also required to have visual acuity to operate motor vehicles with a good driving record.
  • Specific physical requirements include, but are not limited to, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, walking, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, and performing repetitive motions.
  • This position is subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions.
  • The worker may be subject to a variety of physical conditions - proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electric current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.
  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • This job may require the use of personal protective equipment including respirators.
  • Medical examinations and drug testing are required.
  • Travel-Local travel from site to site is routine, distance travel may be required but is anticipated to be minimal.
