Position Summary

The College of Pharmacy is recruiting a Data Manager within its College administration offices. This position will report to the Executive Director of Finance and Administration and collaborate with our Department Chairs, Assistant Deans, Associate Deans, and other Executive Directors.

The successful candidate will process renewals, authorize access, and manage accounts for various integrated academic systems used by the College of Pharmacy. They will facilitate data sharing amongst our academic leadership. Reporting duties will be assigned to help coordinate and maintain continuous cycles of assessment (data refinement, verification, and validation) across programs, projects, and activities linked to accreditation. Best practices will be to ensure information assurance: data security, compliance, and governance over usage, sharing, and reporting. The candidate will provide useful insights and interpret statistical outputs; establish workflows and processes that fully utilize the available platforms. They will accommodate various faculty and administrative requests of relevant scope.

The Data Manager will remain current in information security, statistics, campus policies and procedures, state and federal laws and regulations. Sampling and survey skills will be instrumental in providing appropriate questions to faculty, staff, and students, while interpreting results.

Responsibilities include:

  • Coordinates the implementation, development, and process improvement of academic systems. Identifies and collects data from relevant systems within the UNM, the College, and across the academy.
  • Assembles, processes, cleans, and analyzes data and verifies and validates datasets. Perform as needed: data mining; normalizes and joins datasets for analysis. Applies latest data methods and technologies to improve the application of the above processes and stays current in data management and analysis.
  • Coordinates programmatic assessment activities and data analyses for the College; collaborates with the Assistant Dean of Assessment to provide leadership and innovation in programmatic evaluation and outcomes.
  • Aid with curricular assessment activities and data analyses for the College; collaborates with Office of Curricular Affairs, Associate Dean for Professional Education, and the Assistant Dean of Assessment to provide support with curricular evaluation and outcomes. Evaluates statistics and metrics to identify trends, advises faculty on interpretation of data captured, and consults on corrective actions to improve outcomes; advises on efficacy respective to data-driven decision making on changes to policies, procedures, etc.
  • Develops data analysis models for accreditation, research, and other activities in support of the College's strategic plan; refines models which are inefficient or show ineffective outcomes by continuously implementing improvements that optimize outcomes; submits policy and/or procedure proposals to leadership.
  • Research latest standards and data models in support of the College's strategic plan and accreditation outcomes; advises the Associate Dean for Professional Education and/or the Assistant Dean of Assessment on updating data capture and analysis methods of performance to meet accreditation standards and ensure the College's continued competitiveness in the academy.
  • Provides data assurance of academic systems whereby accessing, using, and sharing data meet compliance standards while data integrity, accuracy, and availability are maintained. Establishes procedures that provide proper data governance in compliance with university policies and state and federal laws and regulations; advises faculty in various settings.
  • Provides compiled annual and quarterly reports and analysis of internal audits to the appropriate committees.
  • Oversees the development and delivery of targeted training programs and materials based on audit results or training requests, and changes to legislative, statutory, and/or University requirements.
  • Champions adoption of new technologies and platforms that provide improved data collection and/or analysis methods for various academic and operational activities across the College; advises using data-driven decision making based on outcomes and provides training as needed.
  • Assists with the annual faculty evaluation process; assists with Watermark's Faculty Success platform administration and evaluation reporting to the Dean and Department Chairs.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 6 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.



Preferred Qualifications
  • Please highlight any familiarity or experience with the following in your application.
  • Familiarity with accreditation standards
  • Familiarity with higher education
  • Experience with using statistical software packages (SPSS, MatLab, Mathematica, Excel, R, etc.)
  • Experience with using analytics to improve outcomes.
  • Experience with Qualtrics, Smartsheets, or similar surveying platforms.
  • Experience with any of the following platforms: Moodle, Canvas, ExamSoft, Enflux, SimIQ, CEImpact, Core Elms, Trequel,
  • Pioneer RX, Faculty Success (Digital Measures), Lexicomp, Advanced Psychometrics, Kira, Labster, EHRGo (Archetype Innovations), or similar platforms.
