ABOUT THE POSITION

Our Distribution Centers utilize state-of-the-art technology and a dedicated team to provide Columbia Sportswear Company a competitive advantage in distribution. Teams are responsible for shipping millions of units of apparel, footwear, and equipment annually within the family of brands. Accurate order fulfillment and on-time shipments are the hallmarks of our facility.

As an Assistant Production Analyst, you are responsible for ensuring the smooth, efficient, and timely distribution of Columbia Sportswear product by managing the flow of groups of picktickets (waves) through the Warehouse Management System (WMS).

SCHEDULE:

The second shift team is expected to work the following schedule:

Schedule 1: 4:00PM - 2:30AM Monday - Thursday

HOW YOU'LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE

  • Ensure the smooth, efficient and timely distribution of Columbia Sportswear product by managing the flow of groups of picktickets (waves) through the Warehouse Management System (WM). Includes continuous review of wave flow and status along with regular monitoring of conditions on the production floor.
  • Proactively and continuously monitor wave process for problems and delays in the system that would result in inefficient processing. Includes tracking/identifying the sources of delay recommending areas for improvement of systems and/or processes.
  • Initiate and maintain a high level of communication with departments throughout the distribution center department managers and supervisors and Control Room department to inform them of situations that require a shift in scheduling in order to get product out efficiently. Requires constant monitoring of production status of all departments on WM.
  • Continuously communicate with Control Room Manager to plan for affected schedule changes. Includes identifying areas of improvement in wave process and problem solving with department contacts to resolve pick ticket, and scheduling issues.
  • Maintain positive open lines of communication with all Columbia Sportswear management, staff and other departments in order to contribute to the smooth flow of information and efficient operation of the organization.
  • Ability to cope with a stressful work environment and cordially interact with coworkers to accomplish common tasks.
  • Attendance and punctuality are essential functions of this position.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

YOU HAVE

  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience.
  • Requires 5+ years of related experience.
  • Experience in problem solving and prioritizing multiple tasks/projects preferred.
  • Requires proficiency in SAP system

YOU ARE

  • Requires proficiency in WM inventory management system and thorough knowledge of all distribution center systems and procedures.
  • Must have ability to read system reports and forecast conditions in production; to formulate action plans and resolve problems.
  • Must possess above average computer and communications skills along with excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Must have ability to effectively communicate with internal customers with emphasis on schedulers and internal functional supervisors.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English.
  • Basic math skills required.
  • Possess thorough knowledge of general production and workflow practices and procedures.

JOB CONDITIONS

  • Job may require hours that often exceed 8 hours per day and/or 40 hours per week to complete priority projects.
  • Exposure to Distribution Center machinery/equipment such as conveyor belts, forklifts and loading docks.
  • Position requires frequent movement to all areas of distribution center and incumbent must be capable of managing telephone, radios, computer and verbal communication skills simultaneously.
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs. required.
