Function:

Maintenance Job Summary:The I&C Specialist, Maintenance I&E is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining instrumentation and control systems for various projects and terminals throughout CF Industries' Distribution Facilities. This role requires a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams. Job Description:

Key Job Elements:

  • Design, develop, and implement instrumentation and control systems for ammonia shipping and handling processes and operations.
  • Create detailed engineering specifications, control narratives, drawings, and documentation for instrumentation and control projects.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and technicians to ensure system designs meet project requirements and industry standards.
  • Select appropriate instrumentation and control devices, considering factors such as accuracy, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Integrate instrumentation and control systems with existing processes and equipment.
  • Develop and conduct testing procedures to ensure system functionality, performance, and safety.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to instrumentation and control systems during the commissioning and startup phases.
  • Provide ongoing support and maintenance for installed instrumentation and control systems to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs to minimize system downtime and extend equipment lifespan.
  • Train and support plant operators and maintenance personnel in the proper use and care of instrumentation and control systems.
  • Ensure all instrumentation and control systems comply with relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations.
  • Implement and adhere to safety protocols and best practices in the design, installation, and maintenance of control systems.
  • Conduct risk assessments and hazard analyses to identify and mitigate potential safety issues.

Successful incumbents will have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field preferred
  • Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in the design, development, and maintenance of instrumentation and control systems.
  • Experience with PLC programming, namely Allen Bradley / Rockwell and Modicon / Schneider.
  • Experience with HMI programming (Maple Systems EBPro software).
  • Execute industrial control logic, control system planning and layout of required components, setup, instillation, and commissioning of hardware for system controls.
  • Background in instrumentation and controls with emphasis on PLC/HMI installations.
  • Proficiency in using engineering software and tools such as AutoCAD and LabVIEW.
  • Strong understanding of process control principles, instrumentation, and automation technologies.
  • Knowledge of industrial communication protocols such as Modbus, Profibus, Ethernet/IP, and HART.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy and quality.

Position Scope/Contribution:

The I&C Specialist, Maintenance I&E is responsible for managing instrumentation and control-related projects and maintenance activities in support of CF Industries' owned Distribution Facilities. Coordinates and assists with the implementation, including procurement, installation, and programming of instrumentation/controls-related projects. Proper performance of the incumbent results in sufficient execution of planned projects and activities required of the I&E Maintenance team resources.
