The Aquatics Attendant's primary job responsibility is to ensure a clean, safe and fun environment for all members and guests utilizing the slide and splash play area at the Wisconsin & Upper Michigan Division Kroc Center. Hours available are Monday-Thursday 4pm - 8:30pm; Friday 4pm-7:30pm and Saturday 12pm-5:30pm.

In keeping with the mission of The Salvation Army, The Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center provides facilities, programs and services that encourage, enrich, and strengthen children, adults, and seniors through positive life-changing experiences.

SUMMARY/PRIMARY PURPOSE: The Aquatics Attendant's primary job responsibility is to ensure a clean, safe and fun environment for all members and guests utilizing the slide and splash play area at the Wisconsin & Upper Michigan Division Kroc Center.

  • Considerately and patiently enforce Kroc rules to provide a safe environment for all members, visitors and employees.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of all general and department safety rules.
  • Provide constant safety and supervision for all patrons utilizing the slide and/or splash play area while on deck.
  • Measure children to ensure they are the proper height and enforce related safety policies.
  • Describe the proper slide technique to guests.
  • Notify Lifeguards of any known weak swimmers.
  • Dispatch sliders when catch pool is clear of previous sliders.
  • Maintain and promote excellent customer service with all participants.
  • Assist patrons with putting on lifejackets when necessary.
  • Assist in daily cleaning, order and care of the pool, slide area, deck and surrounding area.
  • Recognize, report and respond to any unsafe conditions and possible pool hazards.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: None required

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS: Adult/Child/Infant America Red Cross CPR/AED/First Aid Certification required within 60 days of hire.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and help physically stabilize patrons as they prepare to use the slide. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

The primary duties of this job take place in a busy public Aquatics Center. The noise level will be high. Temperatures will be above normal room temperature in a high-humidity environment. This position will be exposure to chemicals and fumes typically found in a pool environment, as well as exposure to bodily fluids and other potentially infectious materials.

For other duties of this job, such as outdoor special events and community center activities, the employee may be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time.

The noise level in the work environment at these events is usually moderate to loud.
