The Facility and Event Operations Manager plays a crucial role in daily oversight and management of athletic facilities as a whole. This position handles all aspects of event/game management, scheduling, and facility maintenance/upkeep. Primary Job Functions, Duties, or Accountabilities: Game/Event Management
- Act as Game/Event Manager for select events. Directs all aspects of home game management and operations including official's coordination, game staffing, set-up, Fans First experience and event security. Assures coverage of all athletic home games/events with trained game operations staff. Most events take place during evening or weekend hours and will include many high-profile events.
- Ensure proper game day set up and breakdown for intercollegiate games, special events and all external users of athletic facilities as needed.
- Act as liaison with coaches and staff to ensure all scheduling has been accounted for and communicated.
- Communicate event schedules and changes to concessions, grounds, custodial and campus safety to ensure seamless game day operations.
Facilities Management
- Manage the daily maintenance of all athletic facilities. These responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Inspect facilities on a regular basis to ensure a professional and safe playing surface and environment. Serve as a liaison to the University Facility staff through regular communication.
- Coordinate the daily operation, maintenance, repair and improvement of all athletic facilities through the ERAU facilities department. This includes the initiation of service requests and work orders.
- Coordinate and assist with basic daily cleaning and repairs for all athletic facilities.
- Work closely with University grounds to ensure fields maintenance and weekly mowing/irrigation schedules.
- Maintain an up-to-date inventory log of the all athletic facilities equipment. Repair and replace equipment as needed.
Audio/Visual
- Proficient in the operation and troubleshooting techniques of the sound systems, scoreboards, and message centers of the Sports Complex (ICI Center rooms, ICI Center main arena, portable sound systems, soccer field, baseball field, softball field, track and field complex).
- Provide sound and technical needs for all events held in the ICI Center or Sports Complex. Initiate contact with internal and external groups to properly facilitate the needs of the scheduled events. Ensure proper functioning of all systems and maintain equipment supply for all units. Provide message center usage for proper events (basketball games, baseball tournaments, outside events, etc.), upload relevant information (rosters, statistics, pictures, animations, etc.) and provide each message center with up-to-date information.
- Inventory and maintain the technical equipment (sound systems, scoreboards, message center, etc.) within the complex. Implement an on-going schedule for preventive maintenance and replacement of equipment in conjunction with the University Facilities Department, IT, and outside vendors.
Training and Supervision
- Recruit, train, supervise and evaluate a work force of 10+ student workers that are responsible for assisting in game day operations and facility setups/breakdowns
- Assist in the hiring, training, and development of interns for event/facility management careers.
- Actively support and promote the NCAA's Life in the Balance strategic positioning platform, embracing the six ideals of learning, balance, resourcefulness, sportsmanship passion and service. The violation of NCAA and Sunshine State Conference rules is prohibited and may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Sports or Facility Management
- 1-3 years of related experience in Athletics.
- Knowledge of Athletics and NCAA game rules.
- Proficient in Microsoft office systems (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
- Willing to work in a team environment and demonstrate excellent communication skills, positive attitude and give solution oriented ideas.
