The Director of Clinical Supply Chain Management, Advisory Services is responsible for leading the engagement of Optum Supply Chain Managed Service employees through both remote and onsite work for Supply Chain managed service clients.

The role of the Director of Clinical Supply Chain Management, Advisory Services is to create and implement efficient supply chain operations for managed service clients. Develop credible partnerships with internal and external business partners to address opportunities and support the long-term financial viability of client health systems. Projects will generally be associated with continuous improvement of our valuation methodology, product innovation and supply chain transformation redesign based on process improvement, technology integration, and strategic partnerships.

Primary Responsibilities:



  • Provides leadership to and is accountable for the performance of managed service operations for managed service clients.
  • Develops buy-in from client leadership and maintains collaborative relationships with managed service clients
  • Creates a trusted partner relationship with client executives
  • Develops clear and concise updates to senior leadership at the potential client site and within Optum
  • Responsible for staffing decisions and departmental efficiencies for client managed service operations
  • Ensures Optum meets or exceeds supply chain managed service level agreements (SLAs)
  • Reviews identified problem areas and validate benefit estimates and financial models for potential clients
  • Develops timelines and project plans for managed service clients.
  • Monitors Optum client progress toward key milestones and provides regular updates and escalates (as appropriate) to internal and external key stakeholders
  • Serves as a contact for a potential client, including reviewing the work of the experienced analysts and serving as the coordination point for the functional, products and transformation teams
  • Contributes to potential client evaluation methodology development and other functional assignments as assigned, including developing strategic partnerships with outside companies to provide an end-to-end solution
  • Serves as a key contact for supply chain operations for client executives
  • Attends industry conferences and acts as a subject matter expert for Optum
  • Presents to large groups well and can adjust message to audience (CFO, COO, CEO, and VP of Supply Chain)

Required Qualifications:



  • 10+ years of Supply Chain Management experience in a hospital/clinical environment
  • 5+ years of people leadership experience
  • 5+ years of experience conducting contract reviews and negotiation
  • Experience presenting to C-Suite executives
  • Proven analytical skills
  • Proven to be successful at navigating matrixed relationships and strategic partnerships
  • Able to travel up to 50% when required



Preferred Qualifications:



  • Project Management skills - experience managing multiple projects, people and constituents
  • Methodology development experience on the operational side of supply chain management
  • Experience managing through strategic shift or redirection
  • Experience in hospital management and/or leading complex supply chain transformation consulting engagements
  • Experience revamping methodology

Residents Only: The salary range for this role is $122,100 to $234,700 annually. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
