Title: Charge Maker Level 1 Status: Non-Exempt

Plant and Department: Foundry

Reports to: Foundry Supervisor

Purpose: The level 1 charge maker performs all essential functions with minimum supervision. Includes making charges and preparing and maintaining production data. Can troubleshoot all problems associated with charge making.

Primary Responsibilities:

Duties include, but are not limited to:

Essential Functions:


  • Make up charges as directed.
  • Prepare and maintain all paperwork pertaining to charge making.
  • Operate forklift to transfer charges to the proper melting stations.
  • Performs other related duties as directed by the foundry foreperson/leadperson , works to production and quality standards.
  • Trouble shoot all problems associated with charge making.
  • Must analyze and adjust to unanticipated work situations.
  • Skill in using scales to accurately weigh varying amounts of raw materials and remelt.
  • Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures.
  • Ability to maintain quality control standards.
  • Complete other work duties as assigned.
  • Will Cross Train in other positions/departments as assigned.



Non-essential Functions


  • Maintains equipment and work area for cleanliness and efficient operation foreperson/leadperson to facilitate the efficiency and effectiveness of the foundry.
  • Participates in committees as requested.
  • Receives and identifies product and re-melt recovered from melting systems.



Minimum Qualifications:

Same or similar work environment

Education:

High School

Working Hours and Conditions, including Travel Required:

With forklift maneuver charge cans that weigh 135lbs. must lift up to 50lbs. from floor to chest and empty into charge cans.

Must be able to establish an effective working relationship with supervisors and fellow employees.

Must be able to work flexible work hours when needed and overtime when requested.

Communicate to foundry foreperson/leadperson when equipment needs repairs and when weights of charges etc. do not agree with charge sheets.

Must conform to all safety policies, quality procedures, productivity and inventory reporting procedures.

Scales, vacuums, hand pallet jack, forklift and hand tools.

Dusts contain nickel, chrome, cobalt, copper, silicon and iron. Stress ranges from low to high depending on production requirements.
