Scope of Position

University Hospitals East is committed to enhancing the quality of care provided to patients. The Perioperative Patient Care Associate functions as an integral member of a team of the perioperative care team with in the Department of Perioperative Services, whose members reflect a culture of cooperation, enthusiasm, and mutual respect. The team, consisting of registered nurses, office assistants and other health care providers, provides patient care and supportive services that are directed toward achievement of quality patient care outcomes, improvement of service levels, reduction of length of hospitalization and reduction of costs. Patients and their families will experience the benefits of patient focused care through the integrated skills of all care team members. The Department of Perioperative Services is located on the second floor, West Wing, and on the fourth floor, North Wing. The 4th floor area consists of 10 operating rooms, Pre-Op, and PACU areas. The 2nd floor area consists of 4 operating rooms and combined Pre-Op/PACU area. The PCA provides services Monday through Friday day shift.

Position Summary

The Perioperative Patient Care Associate performs a variety of information processing and patient care related functions including: providing assistance to all persons who seek help, maintaining patient confidentiality, and communicating information from staff /physicians to family and family to staff/physicians. The PCA is expected to practice within the established hospital standards; to have knowledge, understanding and acceptance of department policies and procedures and to adhere to the OSUWMC Mission, Vision and Values.

Minimum Qualifications

For Hire: Must be a high school graduate or possess a GED. Previous experience in a relevant care setting is highly desirable.
