We provide residential undergraduate education to nearly 900 students. Each department at Hampshire College contributes to the collaborative culture of the organization and plays an important role in the success of the College. Leading the collective work to transform Hampshire College into an actively anti-oppressive and liberating environment, the division of justice, equity, and antiracism through radical education and other socially just means equips members of the community to resist and redress inequities wherever they appear in the College. As part of the justice, equity, and antiracism team, you will be instrumental in the department achieving its mission and goals!

DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting to the senior vice president for justice, equity, and antiracism (JEA), the director of civil rights compliance and Title IX coordinator (CRC) at Hampshire College oversees the College's compliance with Title VI, Title VII, Title IX, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and other relevant Massachusetts and federal laws concerning discrimination, harassment, and bias. This role acts as the College's primary point of contact for addressing allegations of discrimination, harassment, and bias and serves as the official Title IX Coordinator.

Additionally, the CRC brings administrative leadership experience to bear on policy development and revision as related to discrimination, harassment, and bias. The CRC will work closely with the senior director of JEA-student success and engagement, who is responsible for the Community Standards (Conduct) process, and with the director of the Office of Accessibility Resources and Services responsible for ADA compliance. The CRC will contribute to students' and employees' sense of belonging, inclusion, and thriving, and will play a lead role in creating an educational and work environment in which everyone is able to support their community, pursue excellence, be open to new information, and are prepared to go out of their comfort zone to learn and grow.

The CRC needs to be adaptable, enjoy acquiring new knowledge, and committed to the success of students and employees. The senior director will exemplify collaborative leadership by applying data, theoretical foundations, research, and best practices; employing exceptional interpersonal and communication dynamics in all interactions; demonstrating cognitive flexibility; and displaying a willingness and ability to effectively engage with students, faculty, and staff in various settings and contexts.

The CRC is an effective and emotionally intelligent team-builder and a visionary leader with demonstrated capacity to implement leading-edge programs and systems within a growing college and a progressive JEA division. The CRC plays an essential role in helping the College gain insight into the campus climate by providing data-driven observations on, and recommendations to improve, trends and systemic issues.
