Responsibilities
Responsible to model the University Mission through dedicated job performance, service excellence to constituencies, respectful collaboration, and active support of the University's Mission in Catholic and Lasallian higher education, and its commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging ( DEIB)
-Teach 24 credit hours per contract year
-Provide service to the department, the college, the university, and the profession
-Maintain an active research agenda
-Advise and mentor students
-Support recruitment and retention of students
-Actively participate in department and college meetings, program assessment, curriculum planning, and new course development
Minimum Qualifications
-PhD in Philosophy, Philosophy of Law, or a related field by August 25, 2025.
-A record of excellence in teaching philosophy to undergraduates, an interactive and innovative teaching style, and a commitment to educating a diverse student population.
- Demonstrated commitment to the University's Catholic and Lasallian mission values and to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion.
-Philosophers of all specialties are encouraged to apply, but candidates should have a demonstrated ability and interest in teaching and research involving philosophy of law; social/political philosophy; and/or Latin American, non-Western, African American, and/or other historically excluded areas of philosophy.
-Willing to teach in a department with a Continental orientation.
Preferred Qualifications
Area of Specialization ( AOS): Open, with preference given to Latin American philosophy, philosophy of law, social/political philosophy, non-western philosophy, African American philosophy, OR history of western philosophy.
Area of Competence ( AOC): We have critical teaching needs in philosophy of law, philosophy of rights, and social/political philosophy. Additional teaching needs include Latin American philosophy, non-western philosophies, queer theory, philosophy of technology, African American philosophy, and reasoning and standardized test-taking ( LSAT prep).
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
-Interest in conference organizing and sponsoring/advising student groups.
-Interest in facilitating undergraduate research experiences and experiential learning.
-Innovative ideas for recruiting majors/minors.
