JOB TITLE:

Undergraduate Prevention Fellow - Region 8 PTTC (Prevention Technology Transfer Center)

JOB PURPOSE:

We are excited to announce that Wyoming Survey & Analysis Center (WYSAC) at the University of Wyoming has received a new grant to serve as the Prevention Technology Transfer Center (PTTC) for Region 8, which includes Colorado, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah, and Wyoming. Our mission is to strengthen and expand the capacity of the prevention workforce to address substance misuse across the region, with a special emphasis on working collaboratively with tribal and remote populations. We provide training, technical assistance, and resources to prevention professionals to promote evidence-based practices that are culturally responsive and community-centered.   • We are seeking a junior or senior level undergraduate Prevention Fellow to join our dynamic team, who can participate remotely from anywhere in Region 8 or in-person (if attending the University of Wyoming). This position offers the opportunity to learn about prevention strategies and contribute to substance misuse prevention on a regional scale while working closely with underserved communities in our prevention training efforts.
  • Mentoring will be provided by WYSAC and the PTTC.
  • The selected Fellow will be required to complete a prevention certificate and a final project.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Continuous Learning/Education Requirements: Following a set curriculum, successfully complete on-line learning environments centered on best practices, emerging trends, and evidence-based approaches in substance misuse prevention.
  • Prevention Training Support: Assist in the development, coordination, and delivery of prevention training and technical assistance for substance misuse prevention professionals.
  • Content Development: Assist in developing culturally relevant training materials, curricula, and resources for prevention programs. Contribute to webinars, training, and other capacity-building events.
  • Program Evaluation Support: Assist with the evaluation team to measure the impact of training and technical assistance efforts.

    REMOTE WORK ELIGIBILITY:

    This position is eligible for remote work and/or a flexible work schedule.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: Course work in Public Health, Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Community Health, or a related field.
  • Travel: Willingness to participate in one regional or national prevention-based conference and to visit the University of Wyoming for an initial meeting with the Region 8 PTTC team. Travel expenses will be paid by Region 8 PTTC.

    DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Remote/ Virtual Meeting Platform Experience: Ability to use Zoom, and/or Teams.
  • Training & Facilitation Skills: Capable of supporting the delivery of training and technical assistance.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and Adobe Software Products: Including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat.
