The Office of Financial Aid provides access, financial aid resources, and advisory services for the Rutgers University- Newark (RU-N) community, facilitating student recruitment, enrollment, and retention. The Office of Financial Aid ( OFA) is integral to Rutgers University-Newark (RU-N). It's a key partner in carrying out and actualizing the overall purpose and strategic plans of access and affordability. Posting Summary
Rutgers University- Newark (RU-N), an urban public research university and anchor institution, located in Newark, New Jersey, a city of promise is seeking a Program Coordinator I. Under the direction of the Assistant Manager, this position will have an integral and lead role in the Office of Financial Aid's processing team, which comprises the Assistant Managers, Senior Financial Aid Counselors, and Administrative Assistants.

This position is responsible for and not limited to the following:

  • Perform more technically demanding financial aid duties, including but not limited to reviewing and validating the completeness of submitted federal verification and professional judgment (PJ) documents
  • Oversee advisement and outreach to ensure that verification and PJs can be completed promptly to avoid a student's loss of critical financial aid resources. Through the utilization of the incomplete verification and PJ reports, students will be identified to the AC. The AC will use these reports to engage with students via emails, salesforce cases, and in-person meetings to ensure timely submissions and conflicts of information to support maximum aid eligibility.
  • Hold quarterly presentations and workshops at various on-campus site events to assist students with documentation submissions via the student portal.
  • Work with UES' verification team to understand the required follow-up and then advise the student accordingly.
  • Counsel students and their families on application procedures, availability, and eligibility for student aid resources.
  • Assists students by reconciling problems that concern them or are handled by other university departments and external agencies.
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for initial inquiries from Salesforce, MyRUN, and the Office of Financial Aid's front counter.
  • Under the leadership of the Assistant Managers, the incumbent will coordinate and be accountable for determining a student's eligibility using established State and institutional guidelines.
  • Coordinate the inflow and outflow of financial aid information and facilitate information to the appropriate OSS department via email, call centers, and R4Success.
  • Advise prospective and current students/departments on financial aid.
  • Concerning the functions described here, all Office of Financial Aid team members must participate in outreach literacy and advisement to students, parents, and the community.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree
  • At least two years' work experience in student financial aid directly related to award and aid determination, need analysis, verification, and packaging.


Certifications/Licenses

  • Experience in higher education or university setting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
