What You'll Do:

Promote Safety. Take an active role in prioritizing safety throughout the operation for yourself and others at all times in accordance with OSHA and Vulcan standards.

Operate Heavy Equipment. Primarily responsible for operating heavy mobile equipment, such as Bobcat, Dozer or Loader (stockpile), track drill, compaction roller and off-road dump broom, as a function of the construction grading process. Will be required to drive and maneuver equipment equipped with blades in successive passes over working areas to remove topsoil, vegetation, or rocks or to distribute and level earth or terrain.

Inspect Equipment. Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections. Complete daily mobile equipment reports and other relevant documentation accurately, keeping records of material or equipment usage or problems encountered.

Maintain Equipment. Maintain equipment performance by checking and maintaining grade stakes. Adjust hand wheels and depress pedals to control attachments, such as blades, buckets, scrapers, or swing booms. Additionally, will be responsible for checking vehicle fluid levels and adding correct fluids as necessary. Assist in performing other minor maintenance.

Perform General Physical Activities. Perform various tasks assisting with the operation, including using hand tools, cleaning, washing, sweeping, and shoveling materials.

Monitor Processes, Materials, or Surroundings. Monitor the operations by locating underground services, such as pipes or wires, prior to beginning work and report any necessary maintenance or adjustments that may be required to ensure safety.

Additional Responsibilities. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Skills You'll Need:

Experience. Previous experience operating heavy construction equipment is preferred.

Knowledge of Best Practices. Knowledge of general principles and practices of operating and servicing heavy construction equipment is preferred.

Flexibility. Must be willing to work overtime and extended hours depending on customer and company demands. Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions and tolerate being exposed to loud noises.
