Rate of Pay:



This position is a grade 17 with a minimum of $84,083 and a mid-point of $112,110 Salary offer will be commensurate with the education/experience, in alignment with the College's compensation philosophy, and the current CBA, if applicable.

Job Summary:



An employee in this classification provides visionary leadership, strategic direction, supervision, and evaluation for ECC's Academic Advising, Success Coaching, Transfer Services, TRiO SSS/ESL Departments, and Student Success Center support staff. They develop and deliver programs and services to improve student outcomes, analyze assessment data for continuous improvement, and lead the ECC's Standards of Academic Progress (SOAP) procedures, student support efforts, administrative withdrawal requests, and Spartan Success/Early Alert oversight. General direction is received from assigned manager.



Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:




  1. A Master's Degree in counseling, academic advising, higher education administration, a related field.
  2. At least five years of relevant experience and three years of supervisory experience are required Expertise in both the practical and theoretical aspects of academic advising, student mentoring, and success coaching.
  3. Proven leadership and management experience in a complex organization, with the ability to apply management principles, lead staff, organize and set priorities, establish strategic goals, build effective intra-departmental collaborations, and meet objectives.
  4. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, using sound professional judgment.
  5. Ability to manage finances responsibly.
  6. Ability to supervise a diverse staff and manage functions under deadlines, policies, procedures, and pressure during peak periods.
  7. Knowledge of TRiO student support programs, including federal grant requirements and parameters.
  8. Experience using data to assess programs, advocate for, and lead initiatives and improvements based on that assessment.
  9. Excellent communication skills, including listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
  10. Strong computer skills.
  11. Good judgment and conflict resolution skills.
  12. Possession of good judgement and conflict resolution skills.



Desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:




  1. A background in community college student services or affairs is preferred.



  1. Knowledge of Ellucian Colleague, Perceptive Content (WebNow), and CRM Advise software a plus.



Essential Duties:




  1. Transfer Services: Supervise the Director of Transfer Services. Provide visionary and strategic leadership. Support the development and implementation of an innovative department.
  2. Academic Advising: Supervise the Director of Academic Advising. Provide visionary and strategic leadership. Support the development and implementation of innovative advising practices, including the Spartan Success/Early Alert program. Recommend, interpret, and implement policies and procedures for advising, academic and transfer planning, and student retention.
  3. Student Success Coaching: Lead and manage a comprehensive student success coaching program. Provide individualized, high-touch support to students to increase course success, progression, and retention. Manage the budget, implement programs and services, set goals, and monitor metrics. Supervise and evaluate staff.
  4. TRiO SSS and SSS-ESL: Supervise the TRiO Director. Oversee TRiO SSS and SSS-ESL grant implementation and operations. Serve as the grant Project Supervisor, supporting goal identification and monitoring metrics. Assist with grant writing as needed.
  5. Student Success Center Reception and Support Staff: Lead, supervise, and evaluate the reception area and support staff to ensure efficient processes.
  6. Administrative Withdrawal Requests: Lead efforts related to administrative withdrawal procedures and student requests. Investigate and resolve issues.
  7. Standards of Academic Progress (SOAP): Lead efforts related to the SOAP Administrative Procedure. Oversee retention and intervention strategies and resolve appeals and reinstatement requests for academically suspended students.
  8. Other Team or Committee Work: Serve on ECC committees or engage with community partners as needed.



Other Duties:




  1. Perform other job-related duties as assigned which pertain to the job description.
  2. Ability to work a flexible schedule which includes days/evenings/weekends as needed by the department.



Physical Demands:



Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met



Visual Acuity:



Position requires close visual acuity to perform activities (i.e. preparing/analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer monitor; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines; using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes).

Moderate noise.

Typical office or administrative conditions (i.e. not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions).
