Job Summary

This position is eligible for a sign-on bonus of $3,000 for external candidates through March 2023.

Essential Functions

  • All team members are expected to be knowledgeable and compliant with Prisma Health's values: Inspire health. Serve with compassion. Be the difference.

  • Identifies patients and procedures. Makes sure all information in present in patient folder. Fills out questionnaire on all patients between the ages of 11-50 yrs. old.

  • Positions patients accurately for all MR procedures. Patients are transferred and positioned correctly for anatomy to be demonstrated for best visibility. Proper surface coils are chosen

  • Performs procedures correctly using protocol book for reference. Marks studies ready to read in PACS this must be done in a timely manner for interpretation as soon as possible after completion of exam

  • Ensures all information is in Pen Rad for Breast patients and Images are sent to DynaCAD

  • Obtains appropriate supplies and prepares room for patient

  • Injects contrast material using proper technique. Injected contrast material properly based on type of contrast needed for the particular body part and size of the patient. Ensures proper sterile technique is used.

  • Sends Prostate Imaging to DynaCAD for our Radiologists, verifies images are in PACS.

  • Keeps room cleaned and stocked at all times

  • Responds to codes and other emergency situations appropriately

  • Communicates with patients concerning MR questionnaire and other pertinent clinical history. Explains MR procedure to patient and/or family member. Obtains completed questionnaire and proper history and clinical from patient physician's office. Ensures patients and /or visitors are free of objects or implanted devices that might be contradicted to MRI.

  • Informs patients and families of all delays.

  • Trains co-workers and students.

  • Acquires requisition and checks for appropriate clinical.

  • Charges procedure, supplies and surgical codes when exam is completed.

  • Operates the PAC's system appropriately and verify studies before sending to archive.

  • Reports equipment problems to Manager and documents confirmation numbers.

  • Ensures teaching files are maintained, and new procedures are added as needed

  • Communicates with radiologist to determine appropriate protocols for each exam. Correct protocols are utilized as prescribed by the radiologist. Procedures must be performed as directed by the radiologist. Correct scans as performed. Demonstrates recognition of anatomy and pathology as related to scan being processed.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory/Management Responsibilities

  • This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director, or executive.

Minimum Requirements

  • Education - Associate degree. Completion of Accredited radiology program

  • Experience - No previous experience required

Required Certifications, Registrations, Licenses

  • ARRT Radiology & MRI Certified; OR ARMRIT-American Registry of MRI certification

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Fluent in using power injectors

  • Knowledge of scanning protocols

  • Excellent customer service skills

  • Basic computer skills

  • Knowledge of office equipment (fax/copier)

  • Data entry

  • PACS

  • EMR
