Thrift Store Worker (Part- Time)

The Salvation Army Springfield Campbell Store located in Springfield, Missouri, is looking for a Thrift Store Worker. This position is expected to perform all functions of a thrift store worker. This includes but is not limited to: Working with customers; lifting and carrying donated/ purchased items; sorting clothes; pricing items; preparing and placing items for display on the sales floor; operating a cash register and making change for purchased items; counting, reconciling of the cash drawer and making bank deposits at the end of day.

This is a part-time position, 24 hours per week, with starting pay of $13.00 per hour.

Essential Functions

1. Interact with customers and other staff in a manner which promotes positive relationships.
2. Sort donated items.
3. Price donated items.
4. Place donated items on racks/shelves for display.
5. Assist in loading and unloading of the store's truck, customers' vehicles, and/or donors' vehicles.
6. Perform clerk/cashier activities.

Minimum Qualifications

High school/equivalent diploma and one-year related work experience or two years' work experience without diploma. Ability to comprehend written job description, cleaning instructions and material safety data sheet. Must be able to operate a cash register, make correct change for items sold and be bondable. Position requires basic communications with customers and other employees. Must be a team player, a self-starter, and perform well with minimum supervision.

Physical and Working Conditions

Must be capable of performing the above essential duties. Capable of continuously lifting 5 pounds, frequently lifting 25 pounds, occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds and frequently moves 50 or more pounds using dolly/cart/truck. Most work will be indoors. The display room is a temperature-controlled environment; however, the sorting/back room/storage area will be cold in the winter and hot in the summer.
