Overview
The Division of Community and Campus Engagement (C&CE) at Utah State University (USU) Eastern is seeking a highly organized and people-oriented person to serve as the Director of Community Engagement and Alumni Relations (Program Coordinator III) in the division. The Director moves forward critical community related programs, public relations projects, and alumni events in the Division of C&CE. This position oversees various community special programs, serves as a leading member of the Eastern Alumni chapter committee, serves as the lead advancement contact, and works directly with philanthropic minded individuals.

It is imperative that the Director of Community Engagement and Alumni Relations have excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to act with tact and discretion. Additionally, the director must be able to communicate with people from various backgrounds and cultures. It is important that the director be energetic, dynamic, motivated, responsible, a leader, and a problem solver. The director should also be autonomous, hardworking, well organized, and take initiative without direct supervision. The director must be able to brainstorm and collaborate well with other colleagues, sometimes across multiple campuses. The director must complete assignments while balancing multiple tasks at one time, without direct supervision. It is also important that the director be comfortable with ongoing assessment and change.

This position is eligible for hybrid work within the state of Utah.

Responsibilities
60% - Supervision and Community Engagement

  • Manage the day to day operations of the community engagement team.
  • Manages community engagement personnel; this includes hiring, training, scheduling, disciplinary functions, and all associated paperwork.
  • Oversee budgets and make wise fiscal decisions.
  • May develop annual budget to include capital expenditures.
  • Reviews expenditures, approves purchases, and determines labor budget.
  • Serves as a principal member of the Eastern Leaders Academy leadership team.
  • Serves as one of the leading members of planning teams, coordinates and markets campus events, including the Eastern Utah Economic Summit, the Legacy Dinner, and Town Ties.
  • Plans and coordinates special events such as open houses and outreach and community events.
  • Designs, coordinates, implements, leads planning teams, and serves on committees for other community engagement programs and events (e.g. International Days, local parades, etc.).
  • Coordinates, gathers information and makes decisions concerning community and campus sponsorship requests.
  • Serves as a principal liaison between administration/staff/faculty and/or external constituencies.
  • Facilitates seminars, meetings, and special projects.
  • Write and/or assist with writing grants and proposals as appropriate to the objectives and funding nature of programs.
  • Coordinates activities of support staff, consultants, and/or volunteers engaged in implementation and administration of program objectives.
  • May develop or participate in the development of funding proposals for programs.
  • Partner with other marketing and public relations personnel to move forward projects.
  • Build and maintain the positive brand of Eastern and the division of Community and Campus Engagement.
  • May teach or lead seminars, classes, and/or workshops.
  • Collects and analyze data and identifies trends
  • Creates and maintain reports and data visualizations to aid in the delivery and understanding of data
  • Seeks opportunities for efficiency improvement of existing processes.
  • Handles confidential information with tact and discretion.
  • Ensures compliance with all local, state, and federal health, safety, and employment laws and regulations.
  • Orders inventory and supplies; develops and maintains inventory management controls.
  • Coordinates with third party vendors.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

    30% - Advancement

  • Coordinates donor deposits, acknowledgments, and scholarship "thank you" letters.
  • Facilitates Annual endowment reports and individual donor impact reports.
  • Coordinates donor stewardship gifts and engagement with donors.
  • Supports the development officers who work in regions that Eastern serves.
  • Serves as the annual giving coordinator and assist with all events surrounding annual giving, including "A" Day of Giving and Employee Giving.
  • Provides support to the Advancement Council.
  • Coordinates unit donor events.
  • Facilitates Eastern athletic department sponsorship acknowledgments, "thank you" letters, and holiday cards.

    10% - Alumni Relations

  • Serves as a principal member of the Eastern Alumni Committee and provides support for the committee.
  • Plans and coordinates alumni events.
  • Coordinates with alumni personnel in Logan.

    Qualifications
    Minimum Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree in a related field plus two years of relevant work experience, OR Master's degree in a related field, OR Equivalent combination of education plus experience is required.
      Preferred Qualifications
    • Master's Degree in business, education, human services, or a related field
    • Two years, or more, experience working in a higher education, advancement setting
    • One year, or more, experience in working in campus and community engagement setting
    • Experience in standing up new community programs in a higher education setting
    • Experience working on community planning teams for community events
    • Knowledge and experience with USU policies and procedures
    • Working knowledge of Millennium, ServiceNow, and Argos
    • Proficient in using Canva and Qualtrics
