Summary of Position Functions

The HVAC Foreman will supervise and direct the installation, modification, and repair of HVAC & Plumbing related systems and equipment in both commercial & industrial environments. The HVAC Foreman is responsible for planning, laying out, participating in, and supervising work on job sites and/or in the shop.

Essential Position Functions

  • Manages all size projects and often multiple projects.
  • Manages installers and apprentices on projects.
  • Follows PTP and company safety standards.
  • Maintains daily hazard prevention plans.
  • Facilitates weekly safety meetings.
  • Reports safety incidents to the safety department and superiors.
  • Requests safety equipment for jobsites and is responsible for site safety equipment.
  • Manages project quality control plans, project layouts and trade coordination.
  • Attends trade coordination meetings on jobsites.
  • Provides direction on layouts, installation standards, means and methods and addresses quality issues.
  • Performs quality checks regularly and identifies deficiencies to be corrected.
  • Manages equipment and materials associated with projects.
  • Manages material ordering on the projects, site storage, staging, laydown, and material deliveries and is responsible for tools and equipment associated with the projects.
  • Manages 3 week look ahead.
  • Works to identify labor needs for jobsite.
  • Carries out disciplinary actions for staff on site if needed.
  • Coordinates with Startup techs/crews.
  • Manages project scope, daily reports, and jobsite documentation as required.
  • Manages day to day interface with customers and general contractors.
  • Manages tracking for all T&M and other field generated changes.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Directly supervises employees in the HVAC department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Veregy's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints, and resolving problems.

Education and Qualifications

To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • High School diploma or General Education (GED) equivalent; or three (3) + years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of two (2) to three (3) years as a Foreman required.
  • Experience with HVAC & Plumbing materials, components, equipment, systems methods of installation, safety procedures, safe work practices, sizing and other calculations required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of general construction and project related drawings and documentation.
  • Knowledge of plans, specifications, drawings, schematics, diagrams, sketches, and blueprints to ensure proper installation means and methods.
  • Knowledge (intermediate to advanced) of various operating systems, software products (e.g. MS Office, etc.).
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently manage time/workload.
  • Ability to complete projects in a timely fashion.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Ability to write presentations, articles, routine reports, proposals, and correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers and staff.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and tactfully negotiate priorities with end users.
  • Ability to work under deadline pressure and extra hours if needed.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • OSHA 30-hour training required.
