Your Opportunity: Heinrich Envelope Corporation, a Taylor Corporation company, is looking for a Production Manager at our Golden Valley, MN facility. This person will play a pivotal role in managing the overall activities of production and production personnel including workflow, equipment maintenance, safety, process improvement, production processes and procedures, and workforce utilization to ensure that all production goals are measured and met in the most efficient manner. This includes ensuring compliance with all government regulations and corporate policies concerning safety, environment and employee relations.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate departmental activities to fulfill sales orders, meet inventory requirements, and deliver manufactured products in a timely fashion. Work to ensure performance meets or exceed standards
  • Forecast long range schedules and recommend increases or decreases in capacity
  • Balance quality, productivity, cost, safety and morale to achieve positive results in all areas of production
  • Direct and participate in process improvement events using a variety of tools to include Six Sigma, 5S and Lean manufacturing techniques to include ongoing continuous improvement
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and maintain proper plant expense ratios by eliminating waste, reducing expenses and promoting maximum efficiency to achieve financial goals for the company
  • Recruit and develop a group of well-trained employees, department leads, and supervisors for future leadership roles in the company; oversee the training of supervisors, production office personnel and new production hires
  • Review plant layout periodically and implement changes that provide for the most efficient flow of work, materials, and accessibility of equipment
  • Assist in the review and selection of new equipment and production methods
  • Maintain a high level of morale among employees through effective leadership and communication
  • Maintain an equipment maintenance program and stock parts to increase efficiency and reduce "down" time
  • Ensure a safe work environment for all employees by providing training, communication, and enforcement of all safety rules and regulations both within Taylor Corporation and national and local regulations
  • Actively participate in the activities of the Safety Committee, offering input and taking appropriate action on recommendations
  • Provide performance feedback regularly to develop others and motivate positive behaviors; conduct mid-year and annual reviews of staff
  • Coach and assist supervisors with documentation and the handling of corrective action for employees with performance issues, up to and including termination
  • Remove obstacles and obtain resources to help teams achieve objectives

You Must Have:

  • The minimum education required for this position is a B.S. Degree in a technical field, or 5 years of progressive manufacturing experience and responsibilities, 3 of which must be in a supervisory capacity
  • Requires broad technical or administrative experience in a manufacturing environment and thorough knowledge of all manufacturing methods, techniques, and related equipment.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, sales representatives, employees
  • Solid problem solving, project management, multi-tasking and prioritization skills.
  • Must be computer literate, particularly in shop floor control, production planning, and inventory control applications
  • Self-starter, high energy and tenacious and extremely ethical

  • Envelope industry experience

Physical Requirements:

  • This job operates in an office and manufacturing environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines
  • This position requires the incumbent to sit or stand as needed, may require walking primarily on a level surface for periodic periods throughout the day; may require sitting for prolonged periods
  • This position requires the incumbent to stoop, kneel or crouch and/or lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. In addition, occasionally lift and/or move 50 pounds
  • Reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist or lifting as required to file documents or store materials throughout the work day
  • This position requires the incumbent to use color vision, hearing, speaking and articulating, and use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus
  • Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud
