GAI Consultants, Inc. is seeking a Survey Manager for our Jacksonville or Orlando offices. This position is eligible for GAI's flexible work schedules. The successful candidate will be a Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) or Professional Surveyor and Mapper (PSM) in Florida or have the ability to obtain this license within 6 months of hire.

The successful candidate will be a Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) or Professional Surveyor and Mapper (PSM) in Florida or have the ability to obtain this license within 6 months of hire.

Essential Duties:



  • Oversight and management of survey crews and survey processing
  • Development and management of mapping and legal descriptions - Right of Way Engineering and Location Route Survey Plats
  • Pursuit and management of projects with local clients
  • Meeting with clients, architects, engineers, and other design personnel to establish project plans, budgets, and schedules.
  • This position will require some minor travel and overnight work on rare occasions.


Job Qualifications:



  • Associates or Bachelor's degree (Surveying or related) from a program accredited by ABET. Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) or Professional Surveyor and Mapper (PSM) certification preferred.
  • Ability to sign and seal legal documents
  • The ability to multi-task and manage multiple survey projects and/or tasks concurrently is required.
  • Strong communication skills are required, including verbal, written, and presentation
  • Strong relationship management and leadership skills are required
  • Travel to project sites throughout Florida is required, with occasional overnight stays (1-2 times per month approximately).

  • Begins to become well-rounded with aspects of consulting, industry standards, and Company protocols. Position requires a strong emphasis on client development; participation in professional societies and industry associations is preferred.

Minimum Years of Experience



  • 12+ Years of Experience


Education



  • Bachelor's degree in Surveying or related field required


Certification/Licensure



  • Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) License
  • Driver's License


Technical Responsibilities



  • Continues to show progress in oversight and coordination of project tasks.
  • Available to junior staff for guidance.
  • Provides opportunities to junior staff to become familiar with task management and financials.
  • Working knowledge of project contract documents.
  • Recruiting and retaining staff.
  • Interpreting the strategy of toplevel management and translating it into everyday policies.
  • Developing and implementing day-to-day routines for a team, department, group, or division.
  • Talent development: Develop Staff skills and empowering them as problem-solvers boosts innovation and productivity.
  • Oversee learning, coaching, and career progression.


Project and Task Management



  • Can manage Tasks.


Management Responsibility



  • Receives administrative supervision with assignments given in terms of broad general objectives and limits.
  • Provides continued mentored experience to senior staff.
  • Integrates professional attitudes relevant to the practice of survey and fosters creativity, curiosity, flexibility, and dependability in staff.
  • Lead and/or supervise the coordination of office personnel and field crews including providing job assignments, information, direction, and daily checking of field notes. Verifying the accuracy of field measurements and calculations.
  • Help develop, implement, and monitor the Business Development Plan for Geomatics with Practice Area Lead, and Business Development staff.
  • Monitoring employee performance.
  • Making sure that processes and procedures are in compliance with the overall organization's guidelines.
  • Inspiring and encouraging employees to perform their best.
  • Assigning and supervising specific work tasks.
  • Allocating resources within a team, department, group, or division.
  • Reporting issues and performance to top-level management.
  • Well-being fostering: Prioritizing mental health, work-life integration and enhances retention.
  • Manager shapes day-to-day workplace experiences.


Communication Skills



  • Applies principles of formal strategic and persuasive communications.
  • Represents their area of specialty within the practice and liaises with related individuals and practices.
  • Routinely interacts with practice leaders, clients, officials, contractors, and others.
  • Integrates concepts of effective teamwork and leadership.
