GAI Consultants, Inc. is seeking a motivated Engineer 2 to work with the Power Generation Business Sector. This position is based out of our Louisville, KY office, working a variety of projects around Kentucky and surrounding states. We are searching for an energetic, outgoing person to support projects associated with power stations, roadways, landfills, renewable energy, and abandoned mine land reclamation projects. GAI Consultants, Inc. offers its employees, upon approval by supervisors, the ability to work remotely or in a hybrid setting. The successful candidate will enjoy performing and leading work in a team-oriented environment, and will utilize their college education and past work experience to continue their development as a professional engineer with the ability to grow in today's environment.

Design and Task Management Duties include:



  • Assist with development of civil site proposals.
  • Assist with task management on assigned projects (schedules, budgets, and quality of work)
  • Site Grading Plans
  • Erosion and Sediment Control Plans
  • Stormwater Management Plans
  • Hydrologic and Hydraulic / Drainage Plans
  • Utility Design and Relocation Plans
  • Maintenance and Protection of Traffic Plans
  • Geotechnical Investigations
  • Permit Applications (earth disturbance permits, building permits, land development plans, high occupancy permits, etc.)
  • Access Road Section Development
  • Construction Drawings, Specifications, and Quality Control Plans
  • Construction Cost Estimates
  • Owner's Engineer Support During Construction
  • Field Investigations
  • Daily/Weekly Construction Inspections
  • Earthwork Construction Quality Control
  • Compaction Testing
  • Concrete Testing
  • ESC Inspections
  • SWPPP Inspections
  • Environmental Monitoring
  • The candidate should have the desire and ability to travel to Project sites, as needed, primarily in the mid-west and Mid-Atlantic regions of the United States


Technical Responsibilities



  • Designs a complete project, system, component, or process.
  • Prepares complete plans, specifications, and other project documents.
  • Designs and conducts investigations. Analyzes and interprets test data.


Project and Task Management



  • Assigns tasks to and directs other technical and non-technical staff.
  • Plans and coordinates detailed aspects of the engineering work.
  • Prepares scopes, budgets, and schedules for assignments.
  • Assists with proposals to provide professional services or obtain funding for engineering projects or programs.

  • Applies broad knowledge of principles and practices in a specific practice area.
  • Independently evaluates, selects, and adapts standard techniques, procedures, and criteria.
  • May act in responsible charge of projects. Acquires general knowledge of principles and practices of related fields, and ability to function on multidisciplinary teams.

  • Communicates effectively to both technical and nontechnical audiences.

Management, Supervision and Guidance



  • Receives general direction on key objectives. Receives guidance, when necessary, on unconventional/complex problems, direction on modified techniques, and new approaches on assignments with conflicting criteria.
  • Assists with mentored experience to direct reports and junior staff through providing guidance, explaining professional responsibilities, and reviewing work products.
  • Attends project meetings and presents specific aspects of engineering assignments.


Education



  • B.S. Engineering


Certification/Licensure



  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) License


Experience



  • 6+ years

Qualifications
Education
Bachelors of Engineering (required)
Experience
6 years: Civil engineering experience (required)
Experience in AutoCAD, Civil 3D (preferred)
Licenses & Certifications
Professional Engineer (required)
Driver's License (required)
