Rio Tinto Borates is looking for aSales Manager - Latin America.This position has direct responsibility for product sales strategies and objectives in the assigned territory aimed at maximizing the financial return for the business and ensuring that RTB's long term strategic objectives relating to customers and markets are achieved. You will be responsible for:
- A commitment to the safety and wellbeing of yourself and your team
- Managing the full commercial relationship with existing and prospective customers, distributors, and sales agents in the territory.
- Developing strategic sales objectives and new business initiatives in the territory including commercialization of new applications and products.
- Delivery of the annual territory sales budget covering all RTM products.
- The negotiation of all customer and distributor contracts in the territory, maintaining relationships with all customers and distributors, and pro-actively managing contract renewals
- The successful implementation of the distributor strategy and end-use strategies within the territory to achieve regional goals.
- Providing input for budgets and forecasts, using market intelligence from the territory
- Developing key relationships with functional departments within Rio Tinto (Customer Service, Marketing, R&D, Operations and Logistics) in order to meet objectives, communicate and resolve issues, and ensure customer satisfaction.
- The territory will include Mexico, Central America, and parts of northern South America including but not limited to Colombia.

It will also be beneficial if you have:
- Bachelors or Master's degree in business or technical field.
- 5-10 years of progressively responsible experience in a direct sales capacity in a technical and/or industrial field.
- Strong negotiation skills with appropriate category of customers, with a minimum of five years' experience in commercial negotiations.
- Demonstrated capability to coordinate and manage direct accounts and distribution partners, including the development of customer plans.
- Project management skills and the ability to drive strategic or technical projects within Rio Tinto or with customers/distributors.
- Ability to work as a team player.
- Ability to travel within the territory over 50% of the time, including international travel.
- Basic IT skills and proficiency in MS Office.
- Experience in industrial minerals or in industries that utilize borates (desirable).
- Fluency in Spanish and English is required. (Portuguese is desirable as well)
