Job Summary:

The Department of Radiology, University of Wisconsin-Madison, School of Medicine & Public Health is seeking a Scientist I to work in Dr. Diego Hernando's Quantitative Imaging Methods Lab (QIML) and Dr. Scott Reeder's Liver Imaging Research Program (LIRP) in the development, implementation, and validation of novel quantitative Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) methods in the body. The Scientist will program image and signal reconstruction models that represent the MR physics of tissues, optimize fitting and acquisition parameters, and implement the methods on commercial MR hardware. They will validate the precision and accuracy of novel quantitative MR methods through testing in phantoms and in people. They will work closely with radiologists and other clinicians to provide engineering solutions to clinical needs and challenges.

Scott Reeder, MD, PhD is the John H. Juhl Professor and Chair of the Department of Radiology. The University of Wisconsin Liver Imaging Research Program (LIRP) is a multidisciplinary group of physicists, engineers, radiologists, surgeons, hematologists, endocrinologists, pathologists, and pediatricians interested in the advancement of human health through improved abdominal imaging technologies. The LIRP focuses on development and translation of new imaging methods, particularly MRI, for improved detection and quantification of diseases affecting the abdomen.

Diego Hernando, PhD, is an Associate Professor and PI of the Quantitative Imaging Methods Lab. This lab focuses on the development and translational validation of imaging techniques for rapid and quantitative MRI. By measuring physically meaningful properties of tissue, the group aims to develop quantitative imaging biomarkers to improve the detection, staging and treatment monitoring of various diseases.

The Scientist I position will work closely with multiple research groups and assist with mentorship of junior researchers.
