Job Summary:

The Department of Industrial & Systems Engineering (ISyE) is looking for an Administrative Manager to serve as an Assistant Department Administrator. ISyE is a top ranked engineering program with a collaborative administrative staff who work together in support of the department.

The successful candidate will work with faculty, staff, and students in the critical functions of HR, Payroll/Benefits, and Finance/Accounting, collaborating with the College of Engineering Dean's office to advance department goals. This position reports to the Department Administrator and will serve as a back-up in operational duties.


Responsibilities:
Manages a program and/or programmatic activities. Initiates, develops, and implements operational services that support a defined project, program, work unit, or function to advance program goals and objectives. May supervise staff and/or approve unit expenditures.

  • 15% Plans, implements, executes, and evaluates existing strategies and objectives for a program and makes recommendations to unit leadership for program or function enhancement
  • 15% Identifies workflow needs, contributes to the development of strategic and operational solutions, allocates resources, and implements new or revised unit operational policies and procedures
  • 5% May exercise supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 FTE or equivalent employees
  • 15% Schedules logistics and secures resources for program activities across multiple work units to ensure optimum efficiency and compliance with appropriate policies, procedures, and specifications
  • 20% Leads the development and preparation of periodic reports and financial statements, and records progress, status, or other special reports for leadership or external agencies
  • 5% May assist in the development and monitoring of the unit or program budget and approve unit expenditures
  • 5% Contributes to the preparation of proposals for funding and/or funding continuation from outside sponsors
  • 20% Responsible for Payroll and Benefits for department and associated centers

Qualifications:

Required:
Bachelor's Degree and at least 2 years experience in payroll or HR or Accounting/Finance.

Preferred:
Experience with UW HR/Payroll systems
Experience with Workday
Experience serving diverse international populations.

Applicants will improve their candidacy by demonstrating strong oral and written communication, attention to detail, accuracy in work, experience working with multiple stakeholders (e.g. faculty, students, staff, partner organizations, etc).


Work Type:

Full Time: 100%

This position will require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Partial remote work schedule to be offered following a probationary/training period.
