The RoleAspen Technology is looking for a Strategic Planning Director, reporting directly to the Chief Customer Officer (CCO). This will be a passionate individual who embraces and anticipates the challenges of evolving our organization for future acceleration and growth. The Strategic Planning Director will serve as a thought-partner to the CCO, and effectively collaborate with and work across all functional areas of the Chief Customer Organization.

As a strategic thinker and operational doer, the successful candidate will concentrate on the most meaningful focus areas at this fast-growing company. Responsibilities will include facilitating and driving accountability for high-impact, visible and varied challenges across our global footprint and will be measured by the individual's ability to increase leverage and velocity for the CCO and his leadership team.

This person will be involved in a wide range of activities, from the highly strategic to the tactical, taking a hands-on approach in leading and facilitating a variety of initiatives. The position requires an individual who can come in and quickly gain the institutional knowledge to understand how to get things done at AspenTech, leveraging interpersonal and collaboration skills to influence the change required to deliver business value.

The ideal candidate will have a track record of effectively leading performance and outcome-based initiatives, and defining and executing targeted plans in a complex, fast-moving environment. This leader must have experience in strategic planning, simplification, and execution. Your Impact
  • Works directly with the CCO and Extended Leadership team to drive strategic planning and set operational priorities of the Company.
  • Provides oversight and guidance to projects of high importance, including settling priorities, driving accountability and measuring progress towards successful outcomes
  • Executes significant strategic, operational and cultural agendas
  • Develops goals to support broad functional objectives, and works with the CCO to set goals and objectives for CCO leadership and the company
  • Helps CCO and senior executives navigate through uncertainty and risk
  • Manages weekly CCO leadership staff meetings including, but not limited to, setting the agenda, providing insights and analysis to inform strategic conversations, and tracking follow through to increase accountability.
  • Leads content creation and agendas for key internal and external purposes (Board materials, quarterly business reviews, key client meetings, internal all-hands, executive off-sites, and the like).
  • Effectively leverages and manages CCO's time and schedule
  • Tracks progress of performance-based initiatives and related outcomes set by the CCO
  • Involved in setting and reviewing policies developed by other functions for approval
  • Serve as a trusted advisor, sometime representative, and assistant to the CCO.
What You'll Need
  • 10+ years of experience in similar role: Chief of Staff, Operations Manager, Business Planning, Consultant, etc. within a technology setting.
  • Demonstrated success formulating strategic direction, skillful negotiation and implementation, and ability to influence all levels on complex business topics.
  • Ability to develop followership across functions.
  • Exceptional attention to detail demonstrating an ability to set objectives and organize work appropriately to meet and exceed goals. Is also comfortable identifying and generating opportunities to drive additional value for the organization.
  • Ability to adjust to multiple tasks and demands and constantly shifting priorities under tight deadlines and time constraints
  • Skilled diplomat with high levels of professional confidence and business acumen.
  • Excellent communication skills in a wide array of situational settings from c-level interaction to core team members, imparting both vision and execution focus; deep analytical skill sets with a synthetic mindset.
  • Consultative approach with strong problem-solving ability, process-driven mindset, and ability to deliver with minimal direct supervision.
  • MBA strongly preferred.
