INTERNAL RECRUITMENT TO UC DAVIS ONLY. The Daniel B. DeLoach Endowed Chair provides additional funding to a current UC Davis academic appointee in the Professor (Senate) series. The additional funding may support the endowed chair holder in areas of teaching, research and service directly related to the purpose of the endowment.

Position Description

The Daniel Barton Deloach Endowed Chair will support research pertinent to agricultural marketing and trade, including transportation of agricultural commodities. The holder of the Daniel Barton Deloach Endowed Chair will be a faculty member in the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics (at the associate or full rank) whose specialty is in the area of agricultural marketing and trade, including transportation of agricultural commodities, and whose distinguished scholarship is nationally recognized.

The initial term of the Daniel Barton Deloach Endowed Chair is for five years, with the option of reappointment on a five-year basis following positive review (APM 191, UCD 191). It is expected that the holder of the endowed chair will advance at least normally through the faculty ranks on the basis of his/her scholarly activities, teaching, University and public service. Upon the request of the Dean or their designee (e.g., Assistant Dean for Development) the chair holder is expected to file an annual report with the CA&ES of activities and endowment usage.

The chair will be expected to engage in teaching and scholarly activities focused in the area of agricultural marketing and trade, including transportation of agricultural commodities.

This is accomplished through activities in the following areas:

* Teach a normal load for department faculty (currently three courses per year) in the undergraduate and/or graduate programs in the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics.

* Mentor and advise graduate students.

* Provide innovation and leadership in research in the area of agricultural marketing and trade, including transportation of agricultural commodities.

* Be engaged in outreach activities in Agricultural and Resource Economics.

* Perform service to the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics and the broader community in which it is situated.

* Enhance the academic and intellectual life of the campus as a whole.

Recommended I&R and OR FTE for the Position

The I&R and OR FTE split will be the FTE split currently held by the successful candidate.

The Chair holder will retain an appointment in his/her current department. Support resources will include normal departmental support plus income from the Daniel Barton Deloach Endowed Chair endowment.

Qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

* Applicants will be expected to be tenured members of the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics at the level of associate or full Professor.

* Demonstrated ability and willingness to conduct an internationally recognized program of scholarly research pertinent to the economics of transporting agricultural and related products.

* Demonstrated ability to teach effectively at both graduate and undergraduate levels.
