Quality Coordinator

Position Summary:

The purpose of this position is to oversee day-to-day quality management and supervision of the production area. The Quality Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring top quality units are produced, implementing continuous process improvement and cost savings, and performing the everyday schedule/team management duties. This associate will work alongside engineering/maintenance, quality and production colleagues to improve existing processes and define new processes where needed. He/she will monitor and enforce all quality related polices (dropped parts, quality confirmations, q-gate, repair flows, etc).

Position Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides leadership direction as related to overall Customer Quality (activities/tasks)
  • Facilitates/Executes quality related business plan themes (as assigned)
  • Makes sound quality related decisions based on facts and using the expert analysis data to support
  • Control and aid in all quality related investigations (in respective area)
  • Regularly communicate quality investigation, status, reflection to respective audiences
  • Monitor and ensure QIS (Quality Information System) / CAR (Corrective Action Request) / 5P (5 Principles of Problem Solving)/4-block process
  • Quality judgement, driven with data (SPC (Statistical Process Control), cp/cpk (Process Capability/Process Capability Ratio), etc)
  • Lives by and exemplifies Astemo Philosophy & Astemo Core Values
  • 3S (Sort, Sweep, Standardize) / COP (Clean-Up, Organize, Pick-Up) activity
  • Drives own self-development initiatives
  • Develops next level associates, with development plan (tracks plan vs. actual)
  • Promotes and supports all involvement programs for associates
  • Facilitate OQ (Outstanding Quality) Flow with respect to capacity change (PQCT (Process/Parts Quality Control Table), QA (Quality Assurance) Matrix, PPH (Past Problem History), MQS (Manufacturing Quality Standard), PDCS (Process Design Concept Sheet), etc.)
  • Facilitate E-Flow (Engineering Flow) with respect to MP (Mass Production) (E Evaluations, WAR (We Are Ready), etc.)
  • Be honest, fair, consistent when communicating with associates
  • Be visible and approachable to the associates
  • Continue to strive to expand your capabilities, as well as your team, to ensure company growth
  • Portray a positive image for all associates
  • Special activities as directed by supervisor
  • Maintains a clear focus even in times of crisis
  • Understands and can anticipate potential problems and risk
  • Can develop a systemic approach to improve any bad situation, understands the impact to all parties
  • Feed forward any abnormal SQCDME (Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, Morale, Environmental) situations to appropriate leadership (escalate appropriately)
  • Regularly communicate quality investigation, status, reflection to respective audiences
  • Ensure QMS (Quality Management System) establishment, implementation, maintenance, and conformance in the production area with respect to NCR (Non-Conformance Report) root cause and closure approval planning, execution and follow-up of QMS activity, and monitoring / updating / training related to QMS documentation
  • Report any quality issues to manager without delay

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED)
  • Minimum of 4 years related work experience
  • Basic level proficiency with PowerPoint, Windows, MS Word and MS Access
  • Intermediate level proficiency with Excel

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2-year college degree in Business Administration, Management or Organizational Leadership
  • 5P Training (5 Principles of Problem Solving: Define, Identify, Implement, Verify, Feedback/Feed-Forward)
  • Previous supervisory experience

Essential to Job Functions -- Physical and/or Mental Restrictions:

  • Ability to work for long periods of time while standing
  • Standing, walking, and bending for the duration of the workday
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
  • Visual ability to work accurately with detailed information and a computer screen
  • Full motor skills

Supervisory:

  • Will supervise

Work Environment -- Travel, Noise, Smells, Quiet, Indoors or Outdoors, etc.

  • Requires 25% travel - Domestic and International (may include short term assignment in foreign country)
  • Factory setting with noise

  • Measurement equipment (calipers, gages, etc.)
