Hardware Test Engineer (Pittsburgh, PA)

The Robotics Hardware Test Engineer will be primarily responsible for generating and implementing test protocols for our innovative surgical robotics platform.You will lead verification and validation testing, contributing to the maintenance of the product's risk management file, and formulating test procedures for proposed products following established company protocols to ensure the delivery of high-quality designs. This role requires adherence to regulatory standards across the product life cycle, ensuring results.

What will you be doing?

  • Design test fixtures
  • Develop new test methods and the design and documentation of test fixtures.
  • Develop and run test method validations.
  • Develop test cases that adequately depict the methods and techniques necessary to examine or validate our medical device designs to related standards as developed by external regulatory groups such as ISO, IEC, FDA, etc.
  • Write test procedures to verify operation, usability, performance, and reliability of systems; verifying adherence to requirements and user needs.
  • Execute test plans; documenting and communicating test results.
  • Create clearly documented bug reports for anomalies found during testing. Verify bug fixes and document results.
  • Trace requirements and/or bug fixes to reports of tests demonstrating proper operation after bug fixes.
  • Adhere to quality system requirements, and support quality system maintenance as it relates to compliance with domestic and international regulations for design controls, safety, risk, and usability.
  • Mentor and/or provide training to less experienced peers.

What will you need to be successful?

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Computer Engineering or related field
  • 5+ years in a regulated product development environment desirable.
  • Strong competence and interest in product design assurance and testing
  • Experience in project management, human factors engineering, and risk assessment.
  • Experience using Linux/Unix desirable.
  • Experience using SolidWorks / Labview desirable.
  • May require attendance in cadaver labs or operating room setting
