Cybersecurity Engineer

Metronet is hiring a Cybersecurity Engineer to serve as the subject matter expert in identity management and data loss prevention. Key responsibilities include designing, implementing, and supporting cybersecurity technologies, developing security standards, and leading security initiatives. The role involves collaborating with stakeholders to document requirements, creating documentation, and conducting security assessments. The engineer will also contribute to the security awareness training program, improve department processes, and participate in on-call incident response.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:



  • Act as the subject matter expert for identity management and data loss prevention, including design, implementation, and support of related processes and toolsets
  • Assist with design, implementation, and support of additional cybersecurity technologies as needed
  • Contribute to the development of security standards and guidelines for governance, risk, and compliance
  • Lead security initiatives and projects with both internal teams and external resources
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to determine and document requirements for processes and systems
  • Assist with development and implementation of security awareness training program
  • Participate in the improvement and automation of department processes
  • Create documentation including system diagrams, process flows, system/product support, incident summaries, etc.
  • Conduct security control assessments and gap analysis for systems and processes
  • Develop metrics, reports, and presentations for technical teams and leadership
  • Participation in on-call rotation with the cybersecurity incident response team
  • Travel as necessary for the needs of the business, less than 5%
  • All other duties as assigned


JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:



  • Bachelor's degree in cybersecurity, software development, information technology, or similar preferred
  • 2 years of experience related to cybersecurity preferred
  • 4 years of systems administration, network engineering, or similar information technology position required
  • Working knowledge of Windows and Unix operating systems
  • Familiarity with administration of security controls in AWS and Azure
  • Experience in project management, cybersecurity platform management, and/or GRC
  • Knowledge working with NIST CSF, NIST 800-53, PCI-DSS, HIPPA, ISO27001/27002, CIS, data privacy, or similar regulatory and compliance frameworks
  • Demonstrated ability with project management
  • Experience with ITIL and Agile processes
  • Working knowledge of at least one scripting language, python preferred
  • Industry relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CISA, CEH, GIAC, AWS Security Specialty, Azure AZ500, Security+ strongly preferred not required
