UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine Department of Pediatrics Division of Nephrology The Division of Nephrology at UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh and the Department of Pediatrics, University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine is recruiting a full-time academic physician scientist at the rank of Assistant Professor on the tenure track. The ideal candidate for this position will have demonstrated evidence of the likelihood of transition to independent funding, including a high-quality publication record, track record of extramural funding, and mentoring experience in a basic science, translational, or clinical science field relevant to pediatric nephrology. The successful applicant will have significant protected time to establish their independent research program and participate in the clinical, teaching, and service activities in the division. The candidate must have an MD/DO (or foreign equivalent) and be board-eligible/certified in pediatric nephrology. The Division of Nephrology at the University of Pittsburgh has a long track record of active engagement and mentoring in basic science, clinical and translational research, with three current R01-funded investigators and three junior physician-scientists. There is a strong history of collaboration with the Adult Renal-Electrolyte Division, including an NIDDK NIH-sponsored George M. O'Brien Kidney Research Center, the Pittsburgh Center for Kidney Research, as well as opportunities to work with investigators at Carnegie Mellon University. The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Pittsburgh ranks among the top 10 free-standing children's hospitals in total and NIH- sponsored research funding.
