What you'll do:

As a Senior Vice President, you'll be in a senior-level position responsible for executing the SBA division's strategic plan and guiding your team in its efforts to meet the Bank's annual growth and customer retention targets.
You'll lead a group of SBA Marketing Specialists to expand our market share, grow the portfolio, and deepen the relationship with our customers.
You'll be responsible for leading the growth and development of the SBA team's general portfolio of the assigned region or business line.
While SVPs spend a significant portion of their time working their own network and top-tier customers in the portfolio, much of your time will be devoted to supporting your team in credit structuring discussions and market dynamics responsiveness.

What we are looking for:

  • Responsible for supporting the Director and Senior Managing Director in executing the Bank's SBA strategic plan, with specific focus of leading the efforts to grow the loan and deposit portfolio of the assigned region or business line. They are measured on their team's success in meeting sales objectives and management of market dynamics.
  • Executes the tactical strategy outlined by the Managing Director or CEO regarding transaction pitches and negotiation of term sheets. Guides the credit structuring development process, customer assessment, and presentation to senior and divisional loan committees.
  • Responsible for the mitigating risk from market developments, complications in service delivery, and product adoption.
  • Fosters strong, healthy working relationships with executive and senior leaders in partner departments (including Credit Administration, Loan Administration, and other internal support departments, and third-party services), and facilitates team's contribution to and compliance with technical processes and requirements, risk mitigation, efficiency, and customer service.
  • Maintain knowledge of SBA Standard Operating Procedures and Bank policies

What you need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree andeight (8) or more years of related experience and/or training in the financial industry;or a combination of relevant experience and education.
  • Work experience should include at least five (5) years of experience in an SBA business development role.
  • Previous experience in a leadership role for a sales team is preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of general banking operations, including deposit operations, loan administration, treasury management and/or other commercial banking products and services.
  • Advanced knowledge of applicable regulatory and legal compliance obligations, rules and regulations, industry standards and practices.
  • Advanced knowledge of commercial credit and loan structuring, pricing dynamics and has market specific awareness.
  • Strong speaking and writing skills for internal and external audiences.
Compensation: Salary range for new hires is generally $139,530.00 - $172,360.00 for San Diego, CA. Salary range for new hires is generally $139,530.00 - $172,360.00 for Costa Mesa, CA. Salary amount is determined by specific job location. In addition, the role may be eligible for annual bonus/incentives earned and restricted stock.
