About the College/Unit/Department
The Voice Area ( https://music.uga.edu/voice) at the Hugh Hodgson School of Music is a creative community that fosters a supportive environment for vocalists to explore a wide range of musical interests and styles in music, as well as interdisciplinary collaborations outside of music. The area supports students in UGA's undergraduate and graduate voice degree programs which include performance, music education, music therapy, music history, music composition, and the Musical Theatre Certificate Program. Our internationally recognized faculty have a broad range of expertise, performing and teaching multiple genres and vocal styles. Students are encouraged to think creatively and explore their own identities through performance of music of diverse cultures, languages, and perspectives.
The Hugh Hodgson School of Music (www.music.uga.edu) is among the leading schools of music in the region and nationally. Home to approximately six hundred students and a faculty of sixty-five, the Hodgson School includes comprehensive programs, with degrees at the undergraduate level through the master's and doctorate. Our celebrated faculty, outstanding facilities, and talented students build a supportive and rich environment for artistic and scholarly growth. Each year the school hosts nearly 350 public performances. Graduates from our programs have been internationally successful in their chosen fields.

  • A cover letter (maximum of 3 pages) which highlights information regarding the applicant's teaching philosophy, and objectives for teaching within an environment which serves a community of students with a wide variety of backgrounds and interests.
  • Links to an online portfolio/website highlighting artistic work, which must include:

    • 2 coaching videos, no longer than 15-minutes each, demonstrating work with 2 students. Videos may be edited for length.
    • Conducting video of approximately 15 minutes of rehearsal footage and/or 15 minutes from a recent performance within the last 3 years.



  • Unofficial transcripts for highest degree earned.
  • The names and contact information for a minimum of 3 references. Letters of reference will be requested later in the search process.
