For a limited time MaineHealth is offering a $10,000 Sign on bonus for all eligible Registered Nurses with up to 2 years of RN experience and $20,000 for Registered Nurses with greater than 2 years of RN work experience!

Eligible candidates are hired (offer accepted) into a Full or Part time RN position. Bonus amount prorated for Part time hires, per diem hires are ineligible.

Current MaineHealth member employees are ineligible; former MaineHealth Members are ineligible until greater than 6 months' separation from employment.

Position Summary

In addition to direct patient care the Diabetes Education Program Manager functions in a leadership role, coordinating Diabetes Educator scheduling and staffing at the primary clinic site as well as outreach clinics, and acts as a content expert resource. The Diabetes Education Program Manager insures the education program is in compliance with National Standards for Diabetes Self-Management Education, including insurance carrier programs guidelines and requirements pertaining to reimbursement. The Diabetes Education Program Manager serves as a liaison with the inpatient team collaborating on patient care improvement projects and facilitates continuity and consistency of care.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

1. Education: BSN preferred

2. License/Certifications: Active, unencumbered, State of Maine Nursing License. Certified Diabetes Educator certification or expectation to sit for exam within 6 months. Current insulin pump certifications

3. Experience: Five years of experience in the clinical setting, and is familiar with the lifelong process of managing a chronic disease. Knowledge of Risk Management preferred

4. Excellent communication, interpersonal and judgment skills.

5. Ability to interpret the medical record and interpret quality and incident data

6. Ability to rapidly triage patient needs, prioritize and delegate work in a rapidly changing environment

7. Interpersonal and communication skills necessary to interact effectively with patients, families, and other health care providers.

8. Analytical ability sufficient to identify patients at risk and initiate appropriate action.

9. Ability to identify potential crisis situations involving patients and/or families, and to plan strategies for managing these situations when they arise.

10. Analytical ability required gathering and interpreting information necessary to resolve problems in an accurate and timely manner. Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail.

11. Ability to maintain confidentiality
