This position is set to start January 6th, 2025.

The Social Services Director will provide leadership and management of all major functions of The Salvation Army of Fox Cities, Social Services. Responsible for planning, organization, and direction of the organization's operations and programs within the Social Services department.

About the role:



  • With guidance of the Corps Officers: Establishes and promotes the vision and direction of the department of Social Services consistent with The Salvation Army's (TSA) mission; establishes and implements departmental goals and objectives; establishes appropriate administrative policies, services, structures, controls, and reporting systems for the efficient and effective performance of social services; ensures compliance to TSA and Department policies and procedures.
  • Recommends types and levels of services to be provided and standards by which delivery will be evaluated.
  • Forms collaborative relationships with community organizations and government agencies for the efficient and effective delivery of services; develops programs with partner agencies and groups to eliminate gaps in services and reduce duplication of offered services; secures and maintains community support for Social Services programs; directs contract negotiations with community or government partners.
  • Plans, coordinates, instructs, supervises, monitors and evaluates the work performance of the Social Services staff. Ensures compliance to TSA and departmental policies and procedures. Provides support and encouragement to staff persons and provides development opportunities.
  • Interviews, selects, and recommends candidates for hire/onboarding process in social services.
  • Oversees the keeping and reporting of accurate and timely case records, documentation of services provided through all programs which includes those reported in HMIS, SIMS and monthly statistical reports/statistics for the National Statistical System.
  • Oversees the meal program and food pantry operations, including staff supervision and adherence to policies and food safety.
  • Serves as primary point of contact for The Salvation Army for community services agencies in the Fox Cities area.
  • Analyzes the effectiveness of all programs on a regular basis, ensuring that the programs comply with The Salvation Army's mission. Submits regular reports on these findings to the Corps Officer(s).
  • Attends (or assigns and oversees staff attendance to) inter-agency, community, and state meetings as necessary to achieve objectives.
  • Develops and/or manages program policies and performance accountability measures to The Salvation Army's National Social Service standards.
  • Prepares and gives presentations representing the community needs and The Salvation Army for funding purposes or as requested.
  • Plans, coordinates and supervises seasonal programs for social services.
  • Research and process applications for available government grants for The Salvation Army's ongoing program services.
  • Creates, submits for approval, and maintains the annual program budgets for the department.
  • Works with the Development Department to secure new and ongoing program funding.
  • Attends and participates in the appropriate Advisory Board meetings and coordinates Program Committee meetings.


Education: Bachelor's degree in social services or related field.

Experience: Five years' experience in program management including supervisory experience.

-OR- Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Certifications: Valid Wisconsin driver's license with approval to drive from TSA's insurance carrier.
