Position Summary

The Physician Assistant Program in the Department of Family and Community Medicine seeks a service-oriented Coordinator, Academics. This position will work with the PA Program Director, Senior Operations Manager, faculty, and staff to organize many day-to-day educational and operational activities of the Program. Duties will include event coordination, didactic curriculum student and faculty support, purchasing, outreach, maintaining documentation for accreditation, and other functions to support the PA Program's mission of educating PA students to become exemplary providers with a focus on primary care medicine for the underserved and rural populations of New Mexico.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate PA Program events, such as white coat and convocation ceremonies, new student orientation, program retreats, admissions interviews, alumni and preceptor events, and other events involving students, faculty, staff, leadership, alumni, preceptors, and external partners.
  • Complete purchasing and track expenditures.
  • Support the classroom-based didactic portion of the curriculum, including providing support to faculty and students with learning management systems, exam proctoring, exam reviews, and calendaring.
  • Recruit diverse student populations to the PA Program through outreach initiatives across the university and the state, including supporting the PA Program's HRSA grant outreach initiatives related to recruitment and alumni engagement.
  • Maintain documentation, complete data entry, and track compliance in support of the Program's accreditation work.
  • Work with PA Program faculty and staff to support the program admission process.
  • Serve as a backup for administrative operations such as office management, meeting scheduling, minute taking, and other support.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.



Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience
    working with faculty, staff, students, alumni, and/or community partners in an
    educational program
  • Event planning experience
  • Purchasing and budget experience
  • Experience with administrative
    coordination, including calendars, meeting scheduling, and meeting minutes
  • Experience maintaining
    documentation for accreditation standards or similar high-stakes requirements
  • Experience with student
    recruitment/outreach
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Critical thinking skills as
    demonstrated by use of independent judgment to solve complex problems
  • Self-starter, process-oriented team
    player
  • Flexible and willing to assist with
    program activities and other duties outside of primary responsibilities


Additional Requirements
This is a term position and will renew each year based on continued funding.
