The Production Supervisor, will oversee the makeup area, ensure smooth production operations and maintain a focus on safety, sanitation, and quality. Your role involves coordinating with previous supervisors, monitoring the production floor, addressing employee issues, and upholding high standards in cleanliness and adherence to safety protocols.
- Direct the activities of the department on assigned shift in order to meet production schedule.
- Responsible for ensuring production safety, legality, and all aspects of the quality systems are met at all times during production. This includes decisions regarding corrective actions, nonconforming products, process deviations, finished product release, document control, and customer complaints.
- Meet with previous supervisors/leads to communicate any issues from the prior shift. Replace any call outs when needed with another employee.
- Review list of the current production run.
- Walk the entire make-up floor recording all pertinent information on the proper sheets.
- Supervise, train, and direct production personnel.
- Address any employee issues and report complaints/ concerns to the proper manager. (i.e.. Plant Manager, Production Superintendent, Human Resources Manager).
- Monitors employee performance on a daily basis by doing frequent walk-through of the work area and reviewing related work.
- Participates in the disciplinary process by issuing corrective actions in accordance with company policies and procedures and communicating with the appropriate contacts.
- Adjust personnel assignments to cover absenteeism and emergencies. Notes employee absences and lateness on the absence tracking excel sheet.
- Ensure that employees are doing their required work including, but not limited to: Quality Check sheets, dough schedule recording, taking temperatures of product, metal detectors, housekeeping and working in a safe manner.
- Fill out a shift report for each day worked.
- Communicate any major issues to the proper manager.
- 3 or more years working in a production environment, preferably in bread or baking.
- High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of formal management skills training program to include certification as required is preferred. (i.e. MDP, AIB, etc.)
- General knowledge of how production machinery works.
- Good hand / eye coordination.
- Understanding of basic math.
- Adequate level of reading comprehension
Essential Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, and push and pull heavy wheeled equipment or carts in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time during a shift, maintaining a normal range of motion in all extremities.
- Ability to reach, bend, stoop, and crouch to access equipment, tools, or materials.
- Ability to use arms, hands and fingers to handle or operate machinery, tools or controls.
- Ability to perceive and respond immediately to visual and audible safety alerts and warnings to ensure the safety of self and others in a fast-paced, hazard-sensitive environment with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to work in environments with varying temperatures, noise levels, and airborne particles, odors and fumes.
- Ability to climb stairs, ladders, or work platforms as required by the position.
- Ability to sit for prolonged periods using office equipment and computer systems.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and protective clothing for extended periods of time, with or without reasonable accommodation.
