Supervises maintenance employees to ensure the maintenance and operation of products, parts, or components within established timing, quality and cost standards. This position has great emphasis on highly skilled operations, quality assurance and troubleshooting in operations that require highly skilled processes, complex assembly and testing. The supervisor must possess a high level of technical skill to assist technicians in troubleshooting and problem resolution. Will assist with certain aspects of manufacturing expansion planning, to include buildings, machinery, equipment and processes for all facilities as directed. The incumbent will work independently under general direction.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assigns and outlines work advises on technical problems; reviews work for technical accuracy and adequacy.
  • Supervisors take action concerning selection, training, rating and discipline of staff.
  • Work is assigned in terms of objectives, relative priorities and critical areas that impinge on workflow.
  • Must be able to prioritize duties and complete tasks according to established schedules so as not to compromise completion dates.
  • Provides support to other departments including sales, manufacturing, purchasing, marketing, recycling and service and warranty.
  • Outlines more difficult problems and method of approach.
  • Coordinates work programs and directs use of equipment and material.
  • May require supervision of employees for the repair and maintenance of production equipment, buildings and grounds. Assists with equipment installation.
  • Collects and distributes follow up measurements. Recommend and implement process improvement procedures. Coordinates projects between various departments.
  • Develop and monitor departmental budget, staffing, and annual operating plans. Make recommendations for departmental improvements to management.
  • Ensure compliance to company policies and quality procedures.
  • Required to take a pro-active role in safety, environmental, ISO and lean manufacturing/continuous improvement programs and policy enforcement.
  • Accountable for training and development of subordinates as well as employee time and attendance records.
  • Required to manage workflow to ensure timely and efficient repairs and maintenance according to the production schedule.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Skills in computer simulation, cost estimation, design optimization, design review, engineering analysis & design, feasibility study, mathematical analysis & modeling, prototyping, quality assurance process and reliability analysis.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing industry and vocational standards.
  • Experience with problem solving techniques (5 why & root cause analysis).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with ability to work directly with hourly production employees and leadership concerning manufacturing initiatives and progress updates.
  • Strong work ethic, highly motivated, organized, and self-disciplined.
  • Versatile, flexible, and willing to work with changing priorities.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to stay on task.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute concurrent assignments in a high-pressure environment.
  • Strong and consistent attention to detail.
  • Creative and innovative team player.
  • Ability to use sound judgment and make timely decisions.

  • Solid PC skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word, Teams, and Outlook.

  • Proven negotiation skills.
  • Customer orientation and ability to adapt/respond to different types of situations.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively.
  • Prior leadership experience preferred.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Prefer 2-year degree in a industrial-related field.
  • Must have detailed knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment and maintenance procedures. (CNC Machines, Paint Booths, Facility Maintenace (Electrical) and Emergency Response)
  • Thorough understanding of lean manufacturing, continuous improvement processes and human relations skills.

Work Environment/Conditions:

  • Will work in an office setting with exposure to the factory floor, would be required to comply with all safety and environmental rules, regulations and guidelines including PPE requirements.
  • Willingness/Ability to work OT and Weekends if needed
  • Could be exposed to dust, noise or hazardous materials.
  • May be required to handle material up to 50 pounds in weight.
  • Required to prioritize and process documents on a regular basis with consistent exposure to a computer.
  • Will require some travel to trade shows dealer meetings and regional meetings.
  • Hours of work will vary, including weekends.
